Just read a really good article on wedding flower mistakes - didn't even realise there were such things! Mostly it's just good common sense though.
1. Any large arrangements of flowers we use for the ceremony can be re-used in the dining room if they are easily portable, otherwise it'll be a waste if they're not seen more.
2. Colours for bridesmaid flowers - should contrast with the dresses as a nice highlight colour so for example no point having purple flowers with a purple dress, pink or lime would pop off better. It'll all depends on which colour we settle on for the dresses. If the dresses were pewter then pink flowers would look nice. If the dresses were pink then maybe purple and cream flowers would look nice... Ashley likes the idea maybe of a corsage which does sound more practical than having to cart around a bouquet all day.
3. Thinking about the room your flowers will sit in. No point having large flowers obscuring a nice view for example. I think the tea cup/vintage look should fit in with Dalmunzie. Must remember the room is blue/cream.
4. Consider having a table runner underneath to compliment the flowers - perhaps lace, doileys or a shabby chic pattern. Other option is to have it just plain white tablecloth so it looks simple but effective. Certainly don't think those mirrored squares would go - too contemporary.
5. Apparently hydrangeas are a thirsty flower and might not last all day being in a buoquet without water - something to consider.
6. Strongly scented flowers might be overpowering on the tables.
